April is finally here and the weather's starting to get nice! In between rounds of golf, it's important that you stay up-to-date on the latest going-ons in area real estate. Some recent changes in Lake Forest could affect you and your clients. Plus, read about an antitrust refresher article in "It's the Rule". It's all in this month's REALTOR News!

Do not at any time use any of the words and phrases which IAR’s Program for Compliance designates ad Dangerous. Since such statements are so dangerous, they need to be emphasized here along with some other similar words and phrases...

Education Update
Attention Brokers! Time is quickly running out to complete your CE requirements and to renew your license! NSBAR has added some great new elective courses on Radon and Construction Law in March. Plus - double check to see that the date your class was supposed to be hasn't changed as we had to switch a few items around. NSBAR has some great designation courses lined up, including CIPS and we just added another CRS in March!. Register TODAY for your classes to renew your brokers license. And salespersons, don't forget that you don't have to wait to take your CE either. Check out our list of classes.

Second Time Must Be a Charm for Lake Forest
Despite NSBAR’s efforts in opposition of Lake Forest ’s local real estate transfer tax, it passed 58% to 42%. What does this mean for you and your clients? The City’s Financial Committee is recommending that the transfer tax will be levied on the buyer of any residential or commercial real estate closing on or after July 5, 2006 . This transfer tax will be $4.00/$1,000.00, with a $2,000 refund for those residents moving within the City of Lake Forest .
