Dear Ms. Penza:
The Village of Wheeling has in place legislation which provides for the Village to make written floodplain map zone determinations for property within the Village. It is anticipated that this service will aid those parties involved in making or requiring a flood zone determination when dealing with the mandatory purchase requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program. The following information will be required for a written determination:


Name of Applicant and Title
Address of Property (if assigned)
Phone Number
Legal Description
Survey of the Property
Property Tax Index Number (P.I.N.)
Topographic Survey (if available)
$25.00 fee


Upon submission of the above documentation, a written determination which includes the following information will be supplied.


Community Number
Map Panel Number
FIRM Suffix
Date of FIRM
FIRM Zone for the Property
Base Flood Elevation at the Property
(in AO zones, the base flood depth)
Elevation Datum System Used on the FIRM

An Application for Floodplain Map Determination which explains submission requirements is enclosed. Please feel free to make copies of this form available to your members. Additional copies can be obtained from the Community Development Department or the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department.
